Fairfield Police: Driver In Crash Says He 'Took Every Drug In The Book' FAIRFIELD, Conn. — A driver who told emergency personnel he was “God” and had taken “every drug in the book” was sent to the hospital late Friday after he ran his car into a tree, police said. Just before midnight, the driver was heading down Cornell Road and turning onto Melville Avenue when he struck the tree, police said. The Danbury Fire Department A shift companies were dispatched to the area of 167 Long Ridge Road at around 3:30 a.m. on Saturday for a report of a motor vehicle accident with an explosion. Units arrived to find a car totally engulfed in flames. There were two occupants on the scene with burns, and they were taken to the Western Connecticut Health Network ER for treatment. The cause of the incident is under investigation.

Danbury Family Displaced By Weekend Fire DANBURY, Conn. — A family was displaced early Saturday when a basement fire caused damage to their Padanaram Road home, according to Danbury fire officials. Firefighters were called to the home just before 7:30 a.m. on a report of smoke in the basement along with the odor of gas, said James Gagliardo, the department’s public information officer. Units quickly located the source and extinguished the blaze, he said. The American Red Cross was brought in to the assist the family. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Fire Marshal’s Office.

Police found Ryan Mello, 33, of Quincy, and Joseph Mollica, 21, of Berlin, in the darkened theater’s lobby, the Post said. John Mooney, 35, of Taunton, was hiding in the balcony, the Post said. Lockdown Lifted, Arrests Pending At Stratford High School STRATFORD, Conn. — A fight possibly involving a knife led to a lockdown at Stratford High School this morning, according to Stratford police. “There was a fight at Stratford High School this morning,” read a tweet from the department’s Twitter account. “Someone alleged that a knife was displayed and the school was placed in lockdown for precaution.” The lockdown was lifted a few hours later after the individuals involved were identified and secured. Police said the fight was isolated and there was no threat to other students, faculty or the public. Two arrests are pending.
