Danbury Mayor Mark Boughton Throws His Hat In The Ring For Governor's Race DANBURY, Conn. — It's official: Danbury Mayor Mark Boughton announced Tuesday that he is running for governor, according to the News-Times. Boughton, a Republican, made the announcement at a press conference at a noon press conference at the Courtyard Marriott, the News-Times said. This is third run for governor for Boughton, 53, who is serving a record ninth term as Danbury mayor. Moving Up: Danbury Fire Department Veteran Promoted To Captain DANBURY, Conn. — Lt. Bart McCleary, a 30-year veteran member of the Danbury Fire Department, was promoted Monday to the rank of fire captain. Family members and co-workers along with representatives of many other city agencies, including Mayor Mark Boughton, gathered to in City Hall to congratulate him on his promotion. McCleary brings many years of experience as a firefighter and fire officer to his new position of captain. He will be starting his new chapter in his career this week on D shift.

Ring, Earrings Reported Stolen From Darien Home DARIEN, Conn. — A resident of Allen O'Neill Drive reported that jewelry was stolen from her home during the holidays, Darien police said. The complaint was made Jan. 4, but the homeowner said the items were last seen the evening of Dec. 18, police said. She described the missing jewelry as a pair of “dangle” earrings worth $50 and a gold braided ring worth $500, police said. The items were taken from a drawer in her bathroom, police said. Stratford Teachers’ Union Votes To Accept Furlough Days To Avoid Layoffs STRATFORD, Conn. — The teachers' union in Stratford voted Monday to accept two unpaid furlough days to avoid more than 40 layoffs by cutting $700,000 from the school budget, according to the Stratford Star. Trumbull Police Investigating Thefts From Unlocked Cars Over Weekend TRUMBULL, Conn. — Trumbull police are investigating thefts from several unlocked vehicles that were parked in the driveways of homes in the Long Hill section of town.
