Redding Board Of Education Takes $225,000 Away From Budget

REDDING, Conn. -- In a 4-2 vote, the Redding school board approved slashing a tenured teaching job at John Read Middle School among cuts to comply with the $225,000 budget adjustment requested by the finance board, according to The Redding Pilot.

The elimination initially was approved in the finance board's budget calling for 0 percent increases in 2016-17, a spending plan proposed earlier in 2016, said The Redding Pilot.

Additional eliminations include a part-time middle school nurse and two office assistants, one from the middle school and the other from Redding Elementary School, The Redding Pilot reported.

A janitor set to retire this year also will not be replaced, said The Redding Pilot report.
