MONROE, Conn. – State Rep. J.P. Sredzinski (R-112) joined members of American Legion Post 176 for a brick-laying ceremony at the Monroe Town Hall Memorial.
Two late World War II veterans, Jack Young and Robert Danner, were honored at the ceremony.
Young served in the European Theater and Danner served in the South Pacific.
Both bricks were donated by Terry and Diane Bowerman, longtime neighbors of Young.
Sredzinski delivered opening remarks and welcomed the veterans to the ceremony.
“By adding these two bricks to our town’s memorial, we are saying thank you in a small way to these brave men who put their lives on the line for our country,” said Sredzinski. “I am so proud to be a part of a town where we take the time to properly honor those who served, and I thank the American Legion for all their work to maintain this memorial year round.”
He also presented pieces of two retired flags to the families of the deceased veterans.
