Garrity Becomes 1st Democrat In 20 Years To Chair Trumbull P&Z Commission

TRUMBULL, CONN. -- For the first time in 20 years, a Democrat has been elected to head the town’s Planning and Zoning Commission, according to a report in the Trumbull Times.

Frederick Garrity, a business management and labor relations expert, has been elected to chair the Trumbull Zoning and Planning Commission. He is the first Democrat in that post in 20 years.

Commissioner Frederick Garrity -- now serving his second five-year term on the board -- will replace Republican Richard Deecken as chairman, the Times report said.

Among the many issues Garrity told the newspaper he plans to tackle are parking, restrictions on building heights, and making the town’s business zones more uniform.
