Trumbull officers responded to the New Year's Eve attack at about 3 p.m., police said.
The fight began as the 21-year-old victim was walking through the mall and two other males followed him into Macy's, police said.
The two approached the male victim and "assaulted him with their hands," police said.
"A fight then took place and a display case in the store was knocked over," Trumbull police said.
The victim sustained minor injuries and was able to run away, police said.
No weapons were reported to have been displayed or used by the suspects, police said. Police said reports of weapons or gunshots were incorrect.
The two attackers have not been identified, police said. The police investigation was continuing.
