Bridgeport police arrested a city man Thursday for the shooting death of another man in May.

Detectives from the Bridgeport Police Fugitive Task Force arrested Shardel Ragin, 30, of Asylum Street in Bridgeport for the May 24, shooting death of Willie Nance, 26, of Bridgeport, said Av Harris, spokesman for the Bridgeport Police Department.

Nance and another unidentified man were shot in the area of Asylum and Plymouth streets and taken to local hospitals around 12:30 a.m. by friends in private vehicles.

The other man, who was shot in the torso, was treated at Bridgeport Hospital.

Ragin was charged with manslaughter, carrying a pistol without a permit, illegal discharge of a firearm, use of a firearm in a felony, and criminal possession of a firearm, Harris said.

Police did not offer additional information surrounding a motive for the shooting.

He is being held on a $350,000 bond.
