The altered traffic pattern on Route 53 will be between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., Monday through Friday. A detour will be implemented after July 1 for 42 days, via Route 58 and 107. The DOT will release more information on the project and specific dates later this spring.

The project consists of the replacement of the abutments, deck and parapets along with minor safety improvements. The bridge is near the intersection of Redding Road/Route 53 and Umpawaug Road. The project was awarded to McNamee Construction Corp., at a cost of $2.8 million in February 2016. It's scheduled to be completed in September of this year.
