BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — The second trial began Tuesday for a Bridgeport man charged with killing his girlfriend, an Eastern Connecticut State University student in 2013, and dumping her dismembered body near a Trumbull movie theater, according to the Connecticut Post.

Alyssiah Marie Wiley of West Haven was 20 when she vanished April 19, 2013, from the Willimantic college campus. Part of her remains were found May 17, 2013, in the woods off Quarry Road in Trumbull near the movie theater.

Her boyfriend, Jermaine Richards, a nurse who lived about a mile away from the scene, is charged with her murder. His first trial last year ended with a hung jury.

The opening day of testimony came from State Police Sgt. Forrest Ruddy, who explained the extensive investigation across the state and on the campus after Wiley's disappearance, the Post said. The testimony will Wednesday at Bridgeport Superior Court, the Post said.
