Route 53 In Redding May Close Earlier Than Planned For Bridge Repairs

REDDING, Conn. -- Route 53 may be closed at its Umpawaug Road intersection for bridge repairs as early as June, according to The Redding Pilot.

Route 53 may close completely in Redding in June rather than July for upgrades and bridge construction.

The close would come just after schools let out for the summer and earlier than its initially predicted 42 day period from July to August, The Redding Pilot reported.

Route 53 will be converted to an alternating one-lane road at the intersection before it is closed completely, The Redding Pilot said.
