MONROE, Conn. — Monroe has ordered a parking and closed schools for Thursday because an approaching winter storm is expected dump up to a foot of snow across the area. There is a parking ban in effect for the entire day on Thursday, the town said on Twitter and its website.
"Please remove all vehicles, trailers and basketball hoops from the roadway so the plows can do their job," said the statement from the town of Monroe. "Failure to do so may result in a ticket and/or your vehicle being towed. Please restrict travel to necessary tasks only and work from home if you can. Thanks for your cooperation."
Town Hall, the Senior Center and the Library will not open until 10 a.m. Thursday, the town said. But a decision on whether to open or close will be made in the morning, depending on storm conditions.
"Please stay safe and off the roads as much as possible," the statement said.
