REDDING, Conn. — The school day had barely begun in Redding on Monday when the decision was made to end classes early.
The Redding School District is on early dismissal for Monday, according to the Redding Police Department, with the following dismissal times:
- Joel Barlow High School at noon
- Redding Elementary School at 12:50 p.m
- John Read Middle School at 1:40 p.m.
Power outages were reported earlier Monday at both JRMS and RES, police said, and all students are safe.
"We are in contact with ER9 and as usual, police officers are in both of the schools," police said.
There was a 90-minute delay for the K-8 schools in Easton and Redding due to road conditions early Monday after the overnight storm. Joel Barlow High School opened on time Monday, although buses were reportedly running late.
