Y's Men Of Westport Learning How To Use Social Media To Talk With Grandkids

WESTPORT, Conn. — Jerry Shereshewsky, a semi-retired digital marketing guru, will speak to Y’s Men of Westport/Weston about social media — what it is, what it does, and how Y’s Men can use it to communicate with their grandchildren.

Jerry Shereshewsky went from Young & Rubicam to yoyodyne.com to Yahoo. He left Yahoo to become CEO at Grandparents.com and recently formed a new marketing consulting firm called GrownUpMarketing.

The meeting will be on Thursday Jan. 12, at the Saugatuck Congregational Church at 245 Post Road E., Westport.

Shereshewsky became a marketing man the old-fashioned way — he started in the mailroom, at Young & Rubicam, and rose to become a senior vice president. From there he moved, first to a direct marketing firm, then a public relations agency.

With Seth Godin, he started yoyodyne.com, the premier online direct marketing promotion firm. After Yahoo bought the firm, Shereshewsky stayed on and for nine years ran Yahoo’s Media Sales Group. He left that to become CEO at Grandparents.com, a “life stage website for the baby boomer grandparents.”

Most recently, he formed a new marketing consulting firm, GrownUpMarketing, to help companies better position themselves and better tell their stories to agencies and marketers.

Y's Men of Westport/Weston is an organization of retired and semi-retired men with a continued interest in activity, fellowship, learning and community service.

Those interested in attending Shereshewsky’s talk and learning more about the Y's Men should contact John Brandt at jkbrandt@aol.com or check the group’s website.
