New Canaan Residents To Serve Missions In Mexico, Germany

Two New Canaan High School graduates have been invited to serve missions in Mexico and Germany beginning this spring.

Francesca “Chessie” Guynn has been called to serve an 18-month mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Guadalajara, Mexico. She will enter the Missionary Training Center in Mexico City on May 22 where she will have six-week training course in Spanish before starting her service in Guadalajara. In Guadalajara, she will be involved in proselyting, community service and leadership training.

“I’m grateful for the support from my family and friends,” Guynn said. “I’m looking forward to serving the people of Mexico.”

Guynn is a 2017 graduate of New Canaan High School, where she excelled in academics, music and sports. She was a captain on the girls’ volleyball team and threw the javelin on the track and field team, competing in both the FCIAC and state meets. She recently completed her freshman year at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, where she has explored a major in finance and marketing. She is the youngest of seven children and follows in the footsteps of her older siblings all of whom served full-time missions in Japan, Canada, Spain, Russia and two in Brazil.

Ethan Lindberg has been called to serve a two-year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Frankfurt, Germany. He will enter the Missionary Training Center in Provo, Utah on June 6 where he will spend six weeks in training before departing to his field of service. He is looking forward to learning to speak German and serving the people there.

Lindberg is a 2017 graduate of New Canaan High School, where he excelled academically and enjoyed music and art. He recently completed his freshman year of college at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.

Chessie and Ethan will both speak about their missions on Sunday, May 20, at 1 p.m., at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on South Avenue across from Waveny Park. Anyone is welcome to attend.
