Representatives from the Vegetation Management Department of Eversource Energy will be the presenters. They are Doug Pistawka, supervisor, and Eric Barber, arborist.

Eversource Energy serves 3.6 million customers in Connecticut, Massachusetts and New Hampshire. The Eversource message is that trees help enrich community life and create the quintessential New England landscape. They also reduce storm-water runoff and filter the air we breathe.

Tree seedlings that are utility-compatible will be distributed free to attendees.

Trees in severe weather can pose a risk to public safety and cause widespread disruption to electricity, communications and transportation, according to the Norwalk Tree Alliance.

Part of the solution to the problem is a partnership among property owners, utilities and municipalities, striving to put “The Right Tree in the Right Place,” the concept of matching compatible trees to existing site conditions, according to the Norwalk Tree Alliance.

The Norwalk Tree Alliance is a volunteer, nonprofit organization actively engaged with the community in the initiation and support of programs that promote a healthy urban forest. Visit http://www.norwalktreealliance.org/ to learn more about the organization.

The talk will begin at 6 p.m.

Norwalk City Hall is at 125 East Ave, Norwalk.
