Super Soaker: Trumbull Will See Heavy Rain, Thunderstorms

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- After a sunny and pleasant Thursday, Fairfield County is expected to see heavy rain and thunderstorms Friday ahead of a wet weekend.

Thursday's high was near 60 under partly sunny skies, according to the National Weather Service. 

But there is a 30 percent chance of rain Thursday night, mainly after midnight. Otherwise, the night will be cloudy, with a low dropping to about 47.

Rain is likely Friday, with a thunderstorm possible after 9 a.m. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. The high will be near 58, and there will be an east wind of 13 to 15 mph. The chance of precipitation is 100 percent, with new rainfall amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.

Rain will continue Friday night, with more thunderstorms possible before midnight, followed by more rain between midnight and 3 a.m. and showers after 3 a.m. Steady temperatures will be around 57. The chance of precipitation is 90 percent, with new precipitation amounts between a quarter- and half-inch possible.

Saturday will see a 50 percent chance of showers, and will otherwise be mostly cloudy, with a high near 63. There will be a south wind between 9 and 16 mph. Saturday night will see a 40 percent chance of showers, with a low around 47.

There is a 30 percent chance of showers on Sunday, otherwise it will be partly sunny with a high near 59. Sunday night will be mostly cloudy, with a low around 41.
