Showers And Thunderstorms Kick Off Week In Trumbull

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- There's a chance of some serious thunderstorms hitting Fairfield County Monday night, kicking off a mostly cool week that will start and end with some wet weather for the region.

The daytime on Monday will see areas of drizzle and fog, mostly before noon, but otherwise the day is expected to be mostly cloudy with a high near 63, according to the National Weather Service. There will be a south wind around 6 mph. There is a chance of strong to severe thunderstorms, mainly at night. The main threat comes from gusty winds, the NWS said.

There is a chance of showers and thunderstorms before 1 a.m. Monday night. Between 1 a.m. and 3 a.m. showers are likely, with a thunderstorm possible, followed by showers after 3 a.m. The low will be around 60. New rainfall amounts will be between a tenth and a quarter-inch, with higher amounts expected during the thunderstorms.

Rain is expected to continue into Tuesday, when there is a 30 percent chance of showers. There will be a break during the day, which will be partly sunny, with a high near 72 and a southwest wind between 10 and 18 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph. Tuesday night will be partly cloudy, with a low around 47.

Wednesday will be mostly sunny but cool, with a high around 60. It will also be windy, with a west wind around 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25. Wednesday night will be partly cloudy with a low around 42.

Thursday will be partly sunny during the day, with a high near 61. Rain is likely on Thursday night, mainly hitting after midnight. The low will be around 47, and the chance of precipitation is 70 percent.

Rain will continue into Friday to close out the week. The chance of precipitation is 80 percent, and the high will be near 60. Friday night there is a 40 percent chance of rain, and a low around 49.
