Several Roads Closed In Redding After Strong Thunderstorms

REDDING, Conn. — A number of major roads in Redding were closed late Monday afternoon after a strong thunderstorm moved through the area and knocked down tree branches and wires, according to the Redding Pilot.

Route 107 near Umpawaug Road, Newtown Turnpike/Route 53 near Tudor and Sanfordtown Road were all blocked, according to Twitter reports from Redding Police.

Initial reports said there were over 1,400 power outages in town, but that number was down to 266 by 6:30 p.m., according to Eversource.
