original story: WESTPORT, Conn. — A multi-car crash is blocking the left lane of the Merritt Parkway southbound on Thursday morning, according to the Connecticut Department of Transportation.

The crash is between Exits 44 and 42 and was reported at about 10:15 a.m., DOT said.

There are traffic jams extending 3.4 miles between Exits 44 and 42 into Fairfield, DOT said.

It was not clear when the scene would be cleared.
