One lucky Long Islander is tens of thousands of dollars richer after a store sold a prize-winning Powerball ticket.
A third-place winning Powerball ticket was sold at Main Street Mart, located at 230 Main Street in Center Moriches, lottery officials announced on Thursday, Feb. 29.
The winning ticket, worth $50,000, was part of the Wednesday, Feb. 28 drawing.
Winning Powerball numbers are drawn from a field of one to 69, with red Powerball numbers drawn from a separate field of one to 26.
Drawings are televised every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday at 10:59 p.m.

A Long Island man has been arrested for allegedly hitting another man with his car following a disturbance at a housing complex.
Brandon Smith, age 38, of Center Moriches, was arrested on Tuesday, June 28, for the incident which took place around 7:20 p.m., on Wednesday, June 22 in Riverhead.
According to the Riverhead Police, the department received a 911 call regarding a disturbance at 821 East Main St. apartment complex.

Man Sentenced In Suffolk County 'Birth Tourism' Health Care Fraud Scheme
A 50-year-old man has been sentenced on charges related to a "birth tourism" health care fraud scheme he operated on Long Island.
Ibrahim Aksakal, a Turkish national, was sentenced on Tuesday, March 8, to 27 months in prison for conspiring to commit health care and wire fraud, according to an announcement from Breon Peace, United States attorney for the Eastern District of New York.
Aksakal was also ordered to pay restitution of $1,039,723.63, and forfeiture in the amount of $397,500, according to the announcement.

An investigation is underway after a man was killed in a crash at a busy Long Island intersection.
It happened around 7 a.m. Friday, Sept. 10 in Islandia.
Matthew Matuza, age 42, of Central Islip, was riding a 2013 Ducati motorcycle eastbound on Motor Parkway when he was struck by a westbound 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe as the driver, Rachel Grube, age 23, of Hauppauge, attempted to make a left turn onto Veterans Memorial Highway, Suffolk County Police said.
