Hit-And-Run: Driver Charged With Injuring Pedestrian In Stamford Crosswalk STAMFORD, Conn. — Thanks to quick-thinking witnesses who took photos of the fleeing car, Stamford police were able to make an arrest in a hit-and-run that left a man lying injured in a busy roadway on Saturday afternoon, according to the Stamford Advocate.  A 53-year-old man told police that he had waited for the signal as he crossed High Ridge Road near Square Acre Drive in the crosswalk, the Advocate said.   When a car came at him at a high rate of speed, he jumped back but was struck on the left side of his body and hit his head in the roadway, the Stamford Advocate said. Broken Pipes, Heating Problems Close 3 Bridgeport Schools BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — Dunbar Elementary School and Park City Magnet School in Bridgeport are closed Monday due to broken pipes, according to NBC Connecticut. Fairchild Wheeler Magnet High School in Bridgeport is also closed because of heat-related problems in the building, NBC 30 said. As part of Griffin’s Planetree Person-Centered Care Philosophy, the Holiday Wonderland of Trees calls on hospital departments to decorate 3-foot artificial evergreen trees that are raffled off. The fundraiser aims to help improve health the community by supporting the Spooner House’s services. This is the seventh year of the fundraiser, which has raised more than $47,000 in total.
