FAIRFIELD, Conn. — The hometown fans were ready Tuesday night for the rematch of Fairfield American vs. New Jersey at the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pa.
But the weather wasn't ready to cooperate.
The game — a crucial rematch in the consolation bracket at the World Series — has been postponed until 11 a.m. Wednesday.
The game will be streamed and broadcast on ESPN.
Fairfield American made it to this game by outslugging Walla Walla, 14-6, in a game Monday night. That game was also delayed by lightning and rain but was able to start after a lengthy delay.
In their first meeting last Thursday in the opening game of the Little League, Fairfield defeated New Jersey, 7-6, in a tight contest.
The winner will play the loser of the game between Southeast and Southwest at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday for a chance at the U.S. championship game at the Little League World Series.
