Many Fairfield County Schools Announce Delayed Openings Due To Icy Forecast

FAIRFiELD COUNTY, Conn. — Many school districts in Fairfield County are on a delayed opening because of the icy weather forecast for Tuesday morning.

Freezing rain is likely before 9 a.m., then changing to rain with patchy fog, the National Weather Service said.

The northern part of Fairfield County is under a Freezing Rain Advisory until 1 p.m. Tuesday with a 100 percent chance of rain. The weather service warns that roadways may be slippery. 

Here the districts will delayed openings for Tuesday morning:

  • Bethel Public Schools: two-hour delay
  • Brookfield Public Schools: two-hour delay
  • Danbury Public Schools: two-hour delay
  • Easton Public Schools/Region 9: Two-hour delay
  • Henry Abbott Tech, Danbury: two-hour delay
  • Monroe Public Schools: two-hour delay
  • New Fairfield Public Schools: three-hour delay
  • Newtown Public Schools: two-hour delay
  • Ridgefield Academy: 90-minute delay 
  • Ridgefield Public Schools: two-hour delay
  • Redding Public Schools/Region 9: Two-hour delay
  • Shelton Public Schools: two-hour delay 
  • Sherman Public Schools: two-hour delay
  • Trumbull Public Schools: two-hour delay
  • Weston Public Schools: two-hour delay
  • Wilton Public Schools: two-hour delay
