Plan That Could Lead To Electronic Tolling In CT Due For Vote

Connecticut House Democratic leaders are moving forward with plans to vote on a bill that would restore electronic tolling on the state's highways.

Caucus leadership hopes to bring tolls to a vote on Wednesday, May 2, according to multiple news reports. The latest legislation would include a commitment for significant commuter-pass discounts for Connecticut drivers.

The latest bill also would require a second, affirmative vote of the General Assembly in 2019, or later, before tolls could be established.

"We're looking at multiple in-state discounts," said House Speaker Joe Aresimowicz, D-Berlin, said in this news report.

The measure would direct the state Department of Transportation to develop a detailed plan for legislative consideration by next year.
