Easton Casting Ballots In Referendum On Town, School Budgets

EASTON, Conn. — Easton voters are heading to the polls on Tuesday to cast ballots in the annual referendum on the town and school budgets.

Polls are open today, May 3, from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Samuel Staples Elementary School in Easton.

There are two questions on the ballot:

  • Shall the Town of Easton appropriate the sum of $43,731,261 for the annual budget for the fiscal year July 1, 2016 to June 30, 2017? (This includes Easton’s share of the Region No. 9 budget.)
  • Shall the Regional School District No. 9, composed of the Towns of Easton and Redding appropriate and authorize the expenditure of $23,280,891 as the operating budget of the district for the period of July 1, 2016 to June 30, 2017? (Easton’s share is $10,988,581 and Redding’s share is $12,292,310.)

The town of Redding is also voting on Tuesday on the school budgets.
