Woman Charged With Stealing Check From Monroe Business To Pay Rent

MONROE, Conn. -- A Terryville woman was arrested after she was accused of stealing a business check from her employer, Meineke Car Care Center on Main Street in Monroe, so she could pay her rent, according to the Monroe Courier.

Police said Kimberly Payne, 34, stole the check for $4,000 and cashed it. She turned herself in June 8 to Monroe police after a warrant was issued for her arrest, said the Monroe Courier.

Payne was charged with second-degree forgery and third-degree criminal attempt to commit larceny. She was released after posting a $1,000 bail, added the Monroe Courier.
