YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: Six juveniles who went on a wilding rampage in Hoboken this afternoon — throwing bottles at cars and assaulting a disabled man and a female postal carrier — were taken into custody by police just after 1 o’clock.

NJ Transit police cornered the youths at the NJT rail station and handed them off to Hoboken officers who were chasing them, a police source told CLIFFVIEW PILOT .

The youths had just emerged from at Hoboken University Medical Center’s Giants Steps drug rehabilitation program on Monroe Street around 12:45 p.m. when they “apparently decided they were bored and needed something to do,” the source said.

They began throwing bottles at passersby, including a disabled man and a postal employee, he said.

The three 17-year-olds, two 16-year-olds and one 15-year-old, all from Jersey City, receive home instruction and attend the program, the source said.

One of the teens was charged with drug possession after police found pot in his backpack, authorities later said.

Juvenile complaints of assault and weapons possession were filed against him and the others. All were released to their parents, police said.

Federal charges were expected in connection with the assault on the U.S. Postal Service employee.
