New York State Police troopers on patrol at approximately 9 p.m. on April 14 conducted a traffic stop of a 2006 GMC being driven by Waterbury resident Kurtis Leduc, 36, on I-684 in Southeast for a series of vehicle and traffic law violations.
During the stop, police said that troopers spotted part of a handgun under the driver’s seat. Further investigation determined that Leduc was in possession of a loaded Glock 23 semiautomatic handgun and his passenger, 37-year-old Omar Wilson, also of Waterbury, was in possession of 4.5 grams of cocaine. Both men were arrested at the scene.
Leduc was charged with felony counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of a firearm. Wilson was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony.
Following arraignment, both men were remanded to the Putnam County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 bond. Both are due back in Patterson Justice Court on April 19 to answer the charges against them.
