TRUMBULL, Conn. -- Two suspects dressed in dark-colored clothing and ski masks made off with an ATM in a brazen daytime robbery Thursday morning at the Westfield Trumbull Mall, police said.
At about 9 a.m., the two men pulled up in a dark maroon or burgundy mini-van, possibly with New York plates, and drove up onto the north sidewalk entrance to the mall adjacent to the doors near Macy's and JC Penny Department stores, according to police.
The suspects got out of the van with a hand cart and went about 80 feet into the mall to an ATM, police said.
The suspects then broke the ATM away from its position bolted on the floor and put it onto the hand cart, wheeling it out into the van, police said. No tools were used, according to police.
The van tore out of the Madison Avenue exit at a high rate of speed, traveling south, police said.
