TRUMBULL, Conn. -- In the wake of a recent overdose death in Trumbull , local officials have released a statement on the heroin scourge that is rocking local communities all over New England, according to a report in The Trumbull Times.

A 24-year-old Stratford man died of an apparent heroin overdose on Wednesday, Jan. 6, after being found unconscious in the bathroom of a Starbucks in Trumbull.

Opiate use is happening at an unprecedented rate, police told the Trumbull Times.

Trumbull police and emergency officials said in the statement that the incident in Starbucks was the first time they had been unable to revive an overdose victim with Narcon since being trained to use the drug, which reverses the effects of opiates, the Trumbull Times story said.
