Trumbull Man, 33, Charged With Robbing Monroe Bank At Gunpoint

MONROE, Conn. — A 33-year-old Trumbull man was arrested Wednesday in an armed robbery at a bank in Monroe last month, police said.

Joseph Grosso was charged in the robbery of the People’s United Bank at 435 Main St. in Monroe on Sept. 14, police said. During the robbery, a handgun was displayed and over $11,000 was stolen, said Monroe police Lt. Stephen Corrone.

Through their investigation, detectives were able to identify Grosso as the suspect, said Corrone.

Grosso was placed under arrest and charged with first-degree robbery, second-degree larceny, and criminal possession of a pistol/revolver. 

He was held on $150,000 bond. After processing, Grosso was transported to Bridgeport Superior Court for arraignment.
