Teens Caught Driving With More Than A Pound Of Pot In Wilton

WILTON, Conn. -- Two teens were arrested with more than a pound of marijuana in their car after they were stopped driving with a defective headlight in Wilton, police said.

At around 11 p.m. on Sunday, the Wilton K9 Unit conducted a stop of a car driving north on Route 7 with a defective headlight, police said. While making contact with the occupants of the car, an officer could detect the odor of burnt marijuana, according to police.

A search of the car turned up 1.125 pounds of marijuana, as well as an ounce of Butane Hash Oil/Wax, 28 THC liquid refills for e-cigarettes, and five Xanax pills, according to police.

The two occupants, identified as 19-year-old Mateus Nascimento-Dacosta of Danbury and 18-year-old Jazmine McCabe of Brookfield, were arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana with intent to sell, and possession of drug paraphernalia. They were both arraigned in court on Monday.
