Shelton Man, 33, ID'd As Victim Killed By Metro-North Train In Fairfield

FAIRFIELD, Conn. — The man who was struck and killed by a Metro-North train shortly after midnight last Thursday has been identified as a 33-year-old Shelton resident, according to the Connecticut Post.

Daniel Scott Kurimsky was hit a few hundred feet down the tracks from Geronimo Southwest Grill and Tequila Bar, where he worked, the Post said. 

His death was ruled an accident by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. The incident remains under investigation.

Kurimsky was a graduate of Shelton High School and was completing a degree at Housatonic Community College.

An avid Phish fan, he enjoyed music, art and reading. Kurimsky also had a passion for the outdoors and enjoyed camping and hiking the Appalachian Trail. 

Geronimo Southwest Grill will be closed Tuesday. Aug. 22, for lunch "so that our staff may join together and celebrate the life of Dan Kurimsky, part of the Geronimo family who was taken from us far too soon on Thursday," the restaurant posted on Facebook. 

"This is a great loss for us, his family and friends. We appreciate your understanding and will reopen for dinner at 4 p.m."

He is survived by his parents, Nancy (Nelson) and George Kurimsky; his sister and her husband, Jill and Frank Hickey of Patterson, N.Y.; nephew, Patrick, and twin nieces Kaitlyn and Kristin; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his infant brother, David.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, Aug. 22, at 10 a.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 220 Shelton Road, Trumbull. Interment will be private.
