UPDATED: MONROE, Conn. — A man robbed the People's Bank at 435 Main St. in Trumbull at gunpoint Thursday evening and fled in the cab of a tractor-trailer, police said.
Monroe officers responded to a hold-up alarm at 6 p.m. Thursday, police said.
Employees reported that just before closing, a man entered the bank and demanded cash from a bank teller, police said. The suspect, described as a white man age 25 to 30, displayed a handgun, police said.
No injuries were reported.
The suspect left the bank with an undetermined amount of cash, police said.
Police issued a be-on-the-lookout alert to neighboring towns for the truck cab, which had no trailer attached, the Connecticut Post said.
"We are continuing to investigate the incident," Monroe police said in a statement.
Anyone who saw anything suspicious near the Route 25/Route 59 area, or has any knowledge of this incident, is asked to contact the Monroe Police Detective Bureau at 203-261-3622.
The Connecticut Bankers Reward Association is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the individual responsible for the bank robbery
