Police said officers were called to campus around 2:30 a.m. when campus security officers reported a “combative trespasser” in Dolan Hall. Students told security that the 21-year-old Redding resident, who is not a Fairfield University student, had relieved himself in the hall, where there was a visible puddle, police said.

When officers asked him to leave, he began yelling and took a fighting stance, police said. Public Safety officers got him into the back of a car to wait for police. He was issued a misdemeanor summons for breach of peace and was barred from returning to campus, police said.

He was released to a friend who took him off campus and he is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 3, police said.

Police did not say why he was on campus Saturday.
