Police said that the investigation into 44-year-old Rita Orchano began in early March 2016. Orchano worked as a front desk receptionist at the medical practice, where part of her responsibilities included processing insurance copayments and payments for patients without insurance, police said. The practice discovered that on several occasions, the cash copayments and cash payments that Orchano practiced were over charge, according to police.

Police began investigating, and determined that Orchano was embezzling the money. A warrant was issued for her arrest, and she was arrested on Friday and charged with sixth-degree larceny. She posted a $5,000 bond and will appear in court on April 27.
