TRUMBULL, Conn. — A 24-year-old New Britain man who forced his way into a Trumbull house then assaulted and bit a male resident was arrested late Saturday on home invasion charges, police said.

Trumbull officers responded at about 11 p.m. Saturday to a home on Daniels Farm Road, police said.

The resident reported that a man was on the porch, banging on the front door and damaging the door and other items, police said.

Then, the resident opened the door and the suspect forced his way inside the house, police said.

The suspect "struck the resident and bit him on the hand," police said, then ran out of the house.

A Trumbull police K-9 tracked down the suspect, who was hiding at a nearby shed, police said.

Jonathan Harris, 24, of Oak Street, New Britain, was arrested and charged with first-degree assault, home invasion, burglary and criminal mischief. He was held on $500,000 bond.

Harris and the resident were both transport to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
