Orlando Sanchez, 27, of Remington Street, was driving northbound just around 12:30 a.m. when his 2010 Honda struck the pole, leaving it spilt and leaning, police said.
He failed field sobriety tests and told officers he had just come from a nearby bar, police said.
Sanchez refused a breathalyzer test and was charged with failure to drive right and operating under the influence of drugs or alcohol, police said.
He was released on a $100 bond and is expected in court on Nov. 28.
He declined transport to a hospital for the minor injuries.
