Shortly before 9:30 p.m. on Monday night, an officer from the New Canaan Police Department on patrol on Grove Street spotted Newtown resident Adam Joseph Robertson, 19, failing to obey a stop sign at the intersection of Richmond Hill Road.
During the subsequent stop, a police spokesperson in New Canaan said the officer observed two clear Ziploc bags in the backseat with marijuana inside. Further investigation by a police service dog led to the seizure of more than two and a half ounces of marijuana, a multi-colored glass pipe, clear container containing hash oil and $500 cash.
As a result of the search, both Robertson and his passenger, Trumbull resident Brandon Ryan, 22, were arrested at the scene.
Robertson was charged with conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance and criminal possession of a controlled substance. Following arraignment, he was released on $10,000 bond and is due back in Norwalk Justice Court later this year to answer the charges.
Ryan was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and criminal possession of a controlled substance. Ryan was unable to post bond and was remanded into the custody of the Department of Correction.
