MONROE, Conn. — The 72-year-old owner of a Monroe heating oil company was charged with fourth-degree sexual assault after making "inappropriate contact" with one of his employees while at work, police said.
Ronald Charles, of 124 Country Club Drive, Oxford, was arrested Sept. 29 in connection with the incident, which occurred in June, police said. He was charged with fourth-degree sexual assault and released after posting $2,500 bond for a court date of Oct. 6.
Charles is the owner of Polar Energy in Monroe, according to the Connecticut Post,
A female secretary told police that when she reached across Charles's desk to answer his telephone in his office, he grabbed her thigh and then groped her crotch area, according to the Post.
When police confronted Charles, he said that he and his secretary “have a playful relationship" and that he patted her on her buttocks, the Connecticut Post.
