Members of the Nichols Fire Department arrived to their firehouse on Tuesday to find the words scrawled across their driveway in blue chalk: “Thank You Firemen!”

According to a post on the department’s Facebook page, the message is being hailed as a Random Act of Kindness, or RAK. Such acts are part of a movement that aims to better the world by spreading kindness in schools, communities and homes, according to the Random Acts of Kindness website.

“The members of the (Nichols Fire Department) sincerely thank you for this note and your kind efforts toward making our day better,” the department wrote in the Facebook post.

As of late Wednesday, the writer of the message at the firehouse remains anonymous.
