TRUMBULL, Conn. -- The Nichols Fire Department leapt into action Thursday after a car caught fire on the Merritt Parkway in Trumbull.
Firefighters were dispatched to the merge of the southbound Merritt and Route 25 at 5:11 p.m. Thursday on a report of a car fire.
The first arriving fire chief confirmed the report, fire officials said. Rescue 300 arrived on scene and began fire suppression operations.
Additional arriving units aided in scene safety and overhaul of the burned car, fire officials said. Once the assigned tasks were complete, all units returned to service.
