New Fairfield Man Killed In Overnight Crash Into Trailer On I-84

BETHEL, Conn. — A New Fairfield man was killed early Sunday when his car slammed into another vehicle that was stopped on the right shoulder of  Interstate 84 westbound, according to state police.

The crash occurred just after midnight near Exit 9 in Bethel, police said.  

Kurtis Liska, 27, of New Fairfield, was driving a GMC Sierra in the right lane when he drifted onto the right shoulder and hit the trailer of a vehicle with Indiana plates that was stopped on the shoulder, state police said.

Liska was taken by ambulance to Danbury Hospital, where he died of his injuries, state police said.

The vehicle that was stopped was driven by Mason Alexander Torres, 26, of Van Nuys, Calif., state police said. Torres and his passenger, Jesus Sanchez, 22, of Santa Ana, Calif., were not injured in the crash, police said.
