MONROE, Conn. -- An adult and child were rescued Sunday evening after a car rolled over during a crash on Purdy Hill Road in Monroe, according to authorities.

The Stepney Fire Department and Monroe volunteer firefighters responded to the two-car crash near Farm View Road about 10:30 p.m., according to a Facebook post from the Monroe department.

Firefighters found the adult and child trapped inside the rolled-over car, according to officials. Both crash victims were rescued and taken to an area hospital by the Monroe Volunteer Emergency Medical Service.

The crash -- the second rollover town firefighters handled over the weekend -- brought broken utility poles down onto Purdy Hill Road and forced officials to close the street for several hours, according to officials.

Utility workers responded to the scene and made the necessary repairs, according to fire officials. No serious injuries occurred in the crash.
