To the editor:
I would like to thank the community for their continued support during these trying times for law enforcement.
Over the past week the Easton community has dropped off flowers, coffee, snacks, fruit and letters to thank us for what we do. The Easton Police Department will always serve and protect this community with respect and without prejudice.
The two ambush style attacks on police officers in Dallas and Baton Rouge have left the law enforcement community shaken and dismayed. The community reaching out was unexpected but greatly appreciated.
The Dallas attack and the loss of the five heroes touched close to home for the Easton officers. Greg Ceraso is a detective in the gang unit for the Dallas Police Department and was working on that horrific night.
Greg had been an Easton Police Explorer since he was 12 years old and became an Easton police dispatcher once he turned 18 years old before going to Dallas. Our officers have been in constant contact with him and will continue to support him and all those effected by this violence against police.
I want to thank the Easton community once again for their support for the men and woman of the Easton Police Department.
Police Chief Timothy Shaw
