Health Care Aide Stole $12,000 From Elderly Patient, Westport Police Say

WESTPORT, Conn. -- A health care aide for an elderly Westport resident is charged with stealing about $12,000 from her client over a seven-month period, Westport Police said.

Fantashia Best, 30, of 253 Barnum Terrace, Stratford, allegedly used the resident's ATM card to make multiple withdrawals from the Bank of America branch at 1815 Post Road E., during her employment between October 2015 and April 2016, Westport police said.

Officers were able to identify the suspect through the ATM camera footage, police said. She was also identified by the victim, police said. 

The amount involved in the case totaled $12,000, police said. 

Police arrested Best on Friday on charges of second-degree larceny, illegal use of a credit card and third-degree identity theft. She was held on $12,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 17.
