Firefighters Tackle Burning Truck At Lumber Mill In Redding

REDDING, Conn. — Firefighters extinguished a fully involved truck fire that spread to a large wood pile at a Redding lumber mill on Tuesday evening, the West Redding Volunteer Fire Department said in a Facebook post.

Firefighters responded to a reported truck fire at a lumber mill on Route 7 at about 7:45 p.m. Crews were able to quickly knock down the blaze, fire officials said.

West Redding and Redding Ridge fire personnel remained on scene until the business owner arrived and used a backhoe to expose the rest of the burning wood, fire officials said.

The fire was completely extinguished just before 10 p.m., fire officials said.

West Redding received mutual aid from Georgetown, Redding Ridge and Ridgefield fire departments, fire officials said.

No further information was available on the fire.
