MONROE, Conn. — Firefighters and police officers quickly doused a fire Tuesday afternoon at a commercial building on Main Street in Monroe, according to a Facebook post from the Monroe Volunteer Fire Department.
At 2:30 p.m., the Stepney Volunteer Fire Department, Monroe and Stevenson Volunteer Fire Companies responded to 601 Main St. for a reported structure fire. The fire, which was limited to the exterior, was extinguished by first-arriving police officers using extinguishers and by firefighters using one attack hose line.
The fire did not spread inside the building, which appears to be the home of The Next Street driving school. No one was hurt.
Firefighters worked for about 30 minutes, but Main Street remained open to traffic throughout, the Post said.
The fire marshal is investigating the cause.
