The landscaping supervisor told officers he saw Matthew Eichler, 31, of Hazard Avenue, Enfield, running down a Sturges Highway driveway with the backpack blower and chased him, police said.

Eichler was charged with sixth-degree larceny and released on a promise to appear in court Sept. 12, police said.

Craig Rosenoch, 44, of King Street, Stratford, who was waiting for Eichler in a nearby car, was charged with conspiracy to commit sixth-degree larceny, police said.

Police learned Rosenoch had two warrants out for first-degree escape and third-degree burglary through State Police Troop I. He was turned over to the Department of Corrections fugitive task force.
