Jarrett Tucker, 23, of Quarter Horse Lane, was charged with fourth-degree larceny in the case, police said.

A friend of the victim told officers he saw her daughter’s boyfriend enter the Old Field Road home by himself around noon, after being dropped off at the house, police said.

When questioned by police, Tucker initially denied he had taken anything, but admitted he took the Zippo lighter and jewelry, valued at $2,150 in total, after the girlfriend found the missing items under the passenger seat of her car and returned them to her mother, police said.

Tucker has been the subject of complaints to Fairfield police, including trespassing, larceny, breach of peace, shoplifting and narcotics violations.

He was released on a promise to appear in court on July 22.
